Assistant Superintendent - Job Description and Requirements

A fantastic opportunity has recently arisen for a quality individual to fill the position of Assistant superintendent at the prestigious Dreamland Golf Club in Baku, Azerbaijan. An IMG managed property, the overall development composes an 18 hole Dye Design course, residential villa’s and apartments and an international school.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Assisting with planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways; scheduling work and supervising the Agronomy team and the use of the equipment
• Supervising the maintenance and repair of motorised and other mechanical equipment and instructing equipment operators on the proper operation and care for equipment
• Overseeing pesticide applications and/or operating and calibrating pesticide application equipment
• Supervising and participating in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation systems and central control.
• Assisting with scheduling, staff management and evaluation and employee safety training and monitoring
• Preparing clear and concise reports on the maintenance and conditions of the golf course

Requirements

Minimum qualifications, skills and experience:

• SVQ level 3 /HNC in a turfgrass related subject as a minimum.
• 5 years’ experience working in golf course maintenance together with a minimum of 1 year working in a supervisory position preferred.
• Working knowledge of the maintenance of the golf course, fairways, greens, tees, rough and bunkers; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials, irrigation systems including wells, pumps and automatic controls is a requirement.
• Prior international experience a great benefit
