BTME 2018 laid to rest any doubts about the exhibition being the most influential event in the turf management calendar as 1,573 delegates flooded through the doors of the Harrogate Convention Centre.
More than 150 exhibitors filled four halls at the centre, while the day was capped off with the BIGGA Welcome Celebration sponsored by Textron Golf.
Here are some of the highlights of day one of BTME 2018
1. Former Wentworth head man takes on BIGGA presidency
Chris Kennedy, who oversaw 56 European Tour events during his career, was appointed BIGGA President 2018, succeeding Sid Arrowsmith MG.
2. John Deere renews partnership with Ladies European Tour
John Deere and the Ladies European Tour announced an extension to their partner agreement, ensuring the machinery manufacturer continues its role as the Tour’s official supplier of course maintenance equipment.
3. The winners of the BIGGA Awards were announced at the BIGGA Welcome Celebration
Deeside Golf Club, Alistair Morrison of Durness Golf Club and The Wentworth Club all received BIGGA Awards at the BIGGA Welcome Celebration sponsored by Textron Golf.
4. Headland Amenity discussed new innovations in the light of chemical withdrawals

5. The Amenity Spray Operator of the Year award was presented for the first time at BTME

Global manufacturer of irrigation product and services, Rain Bird, has announced the appointment of Rigby Taylor as its golf products distributor for the UK market.
7. Bernhard announced a new partnership with MLR
Bernhard and Company have announced a new partnership with Norwegian supplementary lighting business, MLR, promising to deliver their products to “all four corners of the globe”.
8. Bayer ‘Tech-Talks’ are an exhibition first
The Bayer Turf Solutions Team have been running a series of 'Tech-Talks on stand A46.
